Lorcana Hyperia City rules: ink drops, the new keyword and Comprehensive Rules v2.3
Ink drops, a new adventure keyword and Comprehensive Rules v2.3: what the Hyperia City release notes change for players.
Ravensburger published the Hyperia City release notes on October 19, 2026, covering new rules and version 2.3 of Disney Lorcana's comprehensive rules. An earlier article on September 29 had already explained ink drops.
Ink drops are a temporary resource represented by counters rather than cards. They stay out of your deck. Removing one pays 1 ink, then it leaves play. There is no limit on how many you can use, and you can spend them the turn you make them. They come in Hyperia City packs, and dice can stand in for them.
Certain cards create them, and every ink combination has access, not only Sapphire. One Tadashi Hamada makes 2 when banished, and the song Higitus Figitus can make 3. Other cards reward using them, such as an action that deals 5 damage instead of 2 when played with a drop. One catch: paying Baymax's Shift cost in drops does not count as paying ink, which is worth checking before a tournament.
The new keyword makes a character quest if it can and prevents it from challenging. Mickey Mouse, Best in Town introduces it, and a Nick Wilde card can give it to another character. Gargoyles such as Lexington and Brooklyn have a static ability that stops them from readying if you hold 3 or more cards.
Other changes: enter-play effects are simplified and apply before a card actually enters, with the card's own effects first. Choices tied to a move are made even if the move does not happen. Multiplayer effects with several parts resolve player by player in turn order. If a keyword is applied to a card that already has it, the longest duration applies. Version 2.3 also includes an erratum for Jukebox.
If you are coming back with this set, these notes are the fastest way to catch up.
